1790s-1820s square iron nails, 18k yellow gold
This limited-edition nail necklace combines a traditional jewelry format with a piece of American history. The 1790s-1820s square cut iron nails in this necklace are among the first made with machine assistance, and are from the slowly-collapsing barn on my dad’s property in Brooks, ME. I am delighted to use them in my work as a nod to my past specifically and the past of American manufacturing in general.
